UPACS Single Door with Dogleg Blanks
Problem
The client was working within a data hall where available floor space was restricted at one end of an existing rack row. Surrounding infrastructure and adjacent equipment limited the clearance required for a standard cold aisle end-of-row configuration.
Despite the space constraints, the client still required a fully enclosed cold aisle that maintained airflow separation, operational safety, and compliance with best-practice containment principles.
Solution
DCE engineered a tailored UPACS configuration to accommodate the reduced footprint. A single UPACS door was deployed at the constrained end of the aisle, replacing a conventional double-door arrangement. In addition, a UPACS framework with steel solid panels was installed to slightly reduce the aisle length while maintaining structural integrity.
This approach ensured that:
- The integrity of the cold aisle containment was fully preserved
- Air leakage was minimised despite the reduced space
- Safe and practical access for engineers was maintained
- The solution integrated seamlessly with the existing rack layout
By adapting the UPACS design to suit the physical constraints of the environment, DCE delivered an effective containment solution without compromising performance or safety.
